Just before the holidays, the Toronto Star reported on federal funding cuts to settlement programs, including several in Toronto. “Across Canada, the Conservative government will cut funding to immigrant service agencies by $53 million in 2011, $43 million from Ontario alone — a move that has outraged community groups, the province and the federal Liberals, which have many seats in Toronto.”
