Attention settlement workers: Housing rights workshop

Do you provide housing assistance to recent immigrants and refugees? You are invited to a workshop — NewHOME: Helping New Canadians Promote Their Housing Rights —  on new Canadians’ housing rights. The session will discuss issues related to Ontario’s Human Rights Code and housing, tenant rights under the Residential Tenancies Act, and strategies for working effectively with diverse communities.

The session is being organized by the Centre for Equality Rights in Accommodation, the Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario and COSTI Immigrant Services with the assistance of Citizens for Affordable Housing, Scarborough Community Legal Services, West Scarborough Community Legal Services and the Community Legal Clinic of York Region.

When: Monday, November 21st, 2011 from 1pm to 5pm (come at 12pm for lunch)

Where: The Hub – mid Scarborough, 2660 Eglinton Avenue East, Scarborough (Brimley and Eglinton)
