Update: Thank you to all attendees and panelists for inspiring us with acts of teacher and learner civic engagement!
Come celebrate each other and the community we create!
ESL classes are ideal environments for encouraging newcomers/immigrants to be civically engaged. ESL teachers are trusted. Our classes already model engagement. They create a sense of community, often reaching multiple ethnic populations simultaneously. And, we nurture confidence.
At this year’s AGM special event, “Community Matters“, we will celebrate the community building that we do through our classes, hear about the work other ESL teachers do, and share materials and tools to help continue that work ourselves. Learn about InformedVoteTO, which aims to bring about clear election messaging for ESL students.
After hearing about our plans for the upcoming TESL Toronto season, be inspired by storytelling about everyday activism and civic engagement by a panel of dynamic community builders while sipping on a free drink and nibbling on snacks!
